After Ramadan: Boko Haram Engage Police in Damaturu


Boko Haram sect members engaged the police in a marathon shootout on Wednesday morning in Damaturu, the capital of Yobe State.
The shoot, out which began shortly after 11am, saw sustained exchange of gunfire and the use of explosive devices by the suspected sect members.
It was gathered that the police officers were attacked on Gashua Road when they went to retrieve a corpse early killed by the sect members.
The police were taking the corpse to the mortuary when they were attacked by the suspected Boko Haram members who also used IEDs.
It needed reinforcements from the police headquarters and the military before the attack could be repelled.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Yobe Police Command, Toyin Gbadegesin confirmed the attack, insisting there was no casualty on the side of the security agencies.
